John-Michael Ekeblad


Chief Creative Officer and owner of Daytime Projects Inc. NYC,

directs the company's international network of specialists and thinkers

for innovative design, experience branding and life style trends.

 

Mr. Ekeblad started his diverse design career in 1985 as Creative Director

at IKEA of Sweden, where he developed platforms for style positioning and new business initiatives.


His twelve years of experience at IKEA led him to start Daytime Projects Inc.

a design strategic consultancy, in NYC 1998.


While at Daytime, Mr. Ekeblad implemented his practical art sense for experience branding 

through think-tanking and customized design and lifestyle forecasts.


From 2001 - 2005 Mr. Ekeblad served as Tupperware’s Vice President of Global Design 

operating an international team located in studios in Orlando, Brussels, Tokyo, and Copenhagen. 

His influential design work at Tupperware furthered the brand’s mission 

to create innovative and surprising solutions for the kitchen and home.


Later Mr. Ekeblad consulted with Time Inc and Real Simple Magazine, 

establishing the in-house design department and designed multiple successful 

collections of Real Simple branded products for major US retailers.


His experience branding design have been instrumental in pilot projects 

for clients like BIC US, Siegel+Gale, IKEA International, Material ConneXion, 

Razorfish and The Accidental Housewife to mention a few.


Most recently Mr. Ekeblad launched his own furniture collections,

MADE of NEW YORK, products manufactured from up-cycled NYC discarded wood,

and AEKOLOGIK, hand made furniture from tropical lianas in Georgetown, Guyana.
